Meet Pastors Jorge & Yisell Sanchez
Pastor Jorge Sanchez
The Lead Pastor of Rock of Life in Newark, NJ, where he serves alongside his wife and ministry partner, Pastor Yisell Sanchez. Together, they lead with passion and a deep commitment to seeing lives transformed by the love of Jesus.
Having served in the city of Newark for over 2 decades, Pastor Jorge has dedicated his life to serving the community he calls home. He pursued theological studies to deepen his understanding of God’s Word and was ordained as a minister in the Assemblies of God, equipping him to lead with both spiritual insight and pastoral care.
Before coming to Rock of Life, Pastor Jorge served as the Executive Pastor at Temple Rock of My Salvation where he served under his mentor and spiritual father Rev. Carmelo Roman for 18 years, and then as Campus Pastor at Vailsburg Assembly of God. These experiences helped shape his heart for leadership, discipleship, and building up the local church.
At Rock of Life, Pastor Jorge continues his mission to cultivate a Christ-centered, Spirit-empowered, and community-driven church that reaches all people with the hope of the gospel. His leadership is marked by dynamic preaching, visionary strategy, and a strong commitment to building leaders and serving the local community.
When he’s not preaching or pastoring, you’ll likely find Pastor Jorge behind a camera (he’s a big fan of photography), hitting the road for a family road trip, or shooting hoops in a game of basketball. He finds joy in creativity, nature, and spending quality time with his family.
Pastor Jorge and Pastor Yisell are also proud parents to their amazing kids Kayla & Justin, who are actively involved in ministry and bring joy to their family’s calling. As a family, they love serving together and cheering people on as they walk out their faith journey.

Pastor Yisell Sanchez
Pastor Yisell Olmeda-Sanchez is a passionate, Spirit-led leader with a heart for people and a deep love for the city of Newark. She has served in ministry for over two decades and brings wisdom, warmth, and a joyful spirit to everything she does.
Before stepping into her current role at Rock of Life, Pastor Yisell faithfully served as the Executive Pastor at Temple Rock of My Salvation under her mentor and Spiritual father Rev. Carmelo Roman for 18 years, and later as Campus Pastor at Vailsburg Assembly of God. These years helped shape her heart for pastoral care, leadership development, and outreach to the local community.
Today, she serves alongside her husband, Pastor Jorge Luis Sanchez, as Co-Lead Pastors of Rock of Life Church—a vibrant, multicultural church in the heart of Newark. Together, they are building a church that feels like home, where people of all backgrounds can experience the transforming love of Jesus.
Above all, Pastor Yisell’s greatest joy is being a mom to their amazing kids Kayla & Justin, and together as a family, they are committed to loving God, loving people, and leading with authenticity.
